Privacy center is quite annoying piece of rogue anti-spyware programs because it uses multiple trojans for spreading around. The problem is, most of single removers fail to remove all versions of these Trojans now, as it is stated in comments of these Privacy Center removal tips. Thus an infection might be a big problem.

So, how to deal with such infection like this one? I would use couple of tools to ensure one’s system is clean. First, I am recomending Spyware Doctor as primary spyware remover – it has quite big database and reliable detection scheme. Also, Spyware doctor should take care of parasites that block legitimate websites. However, it might miss some trojans, thus one needs alternative tool to detect left-overs. Leave Spyware Doctor real time protection running and download malwarebytes anti-malware ( http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php ). It allows free scan, though you would have to pay for real-time protection. This should take care of the rest.

Just remember, anti-spyware program alone can not provide 100% security of the system. You have to update windows and scan your PC with anti-spyware and anti-virus programs periodically. Also, a good firewall program like comodo firewall is strongly recommended to keep unwanted applications like Privacy Center out of your system.

Today I got notified about some Intelinet Smart Security software (intelinet-global.com). A friend of mine could not decide if its rogue or not at first. Well, some diging around and we found who owns it, and it was not even hard : they used netcom3.com domain email while registering the new one. Remember Netcom3 guys ? The “Software leaders” with fake antispyware and antivirus comparison pages? I would doubt the company has 150 employees they claim on the webpage, as the domains itself are only 4 and 2.5 months old.

Ok, what did they wrong at presenting and distributing product?

1) The name of the product is kinda stolen, or, more exactly, combined from Symantecs Smart security and Inteli scan term, used in spyware removers. The terms used are stolen from other removers. Not sure if they are covered by copyright law. There are companies called Intelinet in US, that are not related to these Netcom3 software makers.

2) You dont start distributing software from version 3. You start at version one. Except if you wanna show that you are longer in market than in reality.

3) You do not claim being best and winning awards which you havent won. Thats a scam and a sign of being a rogue.

4) You do not make new removers under different company names if your product is legitimate. Except if you want to hide fact that your software is a piece of crap. You stick with your company name if everything is ok.

5) Your previous security suite was crap anyways. You should go to other business.

Domains related : intelinet-secure.com, intelinet-global.com

We recommend NOT using this software.

IE Antivirus shows that Rogue spyware remover business booms like never before. They have run out of names to label their scams and now use weird combinations of legitimate program names. Well, this about ends their legitimateness, as they are nothing more than frauds that should be removed. IE Antivirus is one of many proofs for that.

Do Malware Bell rings some bells in your memory (sorry, bad pun)? Guess what, IE Antivirus is just another version of the same software. No real Antivirus capability, but maximum usage of security loopholes to infect your PC and get your money. Zlob, Vundo, malicious toolbars, fake alerts, internet advertisment – anything goes to push this product into your PC. And then they ask you to pay.

Some IE Antivirus victims have complained that they havent received any registration key after paying for this software. To tell the truth, I doubt that such thing as registered version exists at all… So do not pay for them, and look for either legitimate removers or resources how to remove IE antivirus fakealerts from your PC:

IE Antivirus on 2-viruses.com

IE Antivirus on CA.

VirusIsolator is another rogue antispyware which was created to scare users. It is low budget project – standard rogue website with the common “90% of computers are infected” threat. Most of the users would not signup at such poor Virus Isolator website, but some of them might fall for popups, distributed with help of trojans. The logos of “awards” are more than funny, as none of the sites mentioned distribute VirusIsolator, and some will surely list it as unrecomended application soon enough.

VirusIsolator owners havent managed to get a legitimate payment solution for their “business” even. And that gives them away: they use the same engine as SpySnipe, which is different skin of rogue spyware remover. Mainbillingcenter.com is nothing but website used for rogue scams exclusively and can not be trusted. They have no frontpage, only biling pages. Funny thing, the pages are not really functional as well, there is little distinguishing between products (only messages change).

If you have fallen for this scam, here are VirusIsolator removal instructions. Also, one should upgrade definitions of ones antivirus or anti-spyware solution if it is not done automatically.

Internet users are becoming slightly more careful. Slightly, as they do not believe each ad they see on website. We have seen MalwareThis and MalwareThat, VirusThis and VirusThat and so on, most of the users already know where the risk is with such products. They do not download such products from clone websites, and if they get infected other ways, they look for help. Only some people fall for such easy scams.

Some of the scams become better and cover their tracks using legal internet merchant solutions or have legal sounding name and “company”. Of couse, the company is either short-lived, or it never existed in first place. One noticeable example is Pandora Software (authors of WinIFixer, InfeStop, SpyMaxx, etc), which bakes as many “removers” that their business starts looking unrealistic.

The bigger risk is products that try to mimic products with good name or at least company name. Such examples are The SpyBot, SpySweeperPro, and XPAntivirus (Mimicking XP brand). These parasites try to use both good reviews of legitimate programs or brands together with illeagal distribution or excessive advertisments. In fact it is quite weird that XPAntivirus survived for so long – its not a new software. It looks like people have hard time to distinguish between slight variations in the name.

How to protect from these scams? I think there is only one solution : do not believe and double-check. Google the full names of removers. Check its reviews, and not in the review sites where they give you only one pick! (Yeah, there are some). Each 5 minutes spent researching the software like XPAntivirus might save you from purchasing that crap.

SpyMaxx is a new, desperate wave of fake spyware removal tools that try to upkeep legitimate software image. This branch of them is marketed by pandora software, and includes such scams like WinlFixer And Infestop. The websites look appearently normal, the payment is processed by their parent company… One has to wonder why there is need for various products like SpyMaxx when they already have couple that are doing the same.

The sad truth is that SpyMaxx is just another one of these removers that try to sell themselves desperately. Even the cleanest PC for them is infected and you can be assured, that they will find a thing that needs to be removed or fixed. For a price. Don’t fall for it – you would be paying for scammers and not a real thing. Never believe popups of software you have never installed in the first place, especially of such dubious vendors like Pandora Software.

Spyware sweeper is a legitimate spyware remover and quite good one too. This was not unnoticed by scammers and they released a rogue skinned similarly to spyware sweeper – SpywareSweeperPro. It was released in the hopes that the users would believe that SpywareSweeperPro is an advanced version of legitimate remover. Of couse, nothing is advanced about it – it’s a scam like many others. It looks like it is more than popular to tarnish the name of real software, as just recently we got a similar parasite that targeted oldie SpyBot search & destroy.

The SpywareSweeperPro infection path is similar to other parasites – exploits and downloads from dubious content websites, hoping to hit users that do not have time to read software reviews and learn what is good for PC and what is not. Also, they might hit people who won’t notice that SpywareSweeperPro is marketed by different company than the real SpywareSweeper.

I would suggest never downloading applications like SpywareSweeperPro without google’ing about it in the web – you will soon notice that it is a fake. Remove Spyware spywareSweeperPro and stick to legitimate removers like Spyware Doctor, SuperAntiSpyware, Spyware Sweeper and some other tools.

VirusHeat is a new name of our “favourite” scam of 2007 – rogue anti-spyware apps. These applications came in hundreds of names in the past, like SpyAxe, MalwareCrush, VirusHeal and now VirusHeat. Strangely enough, they decided to change only one letter in the name and add some borrowed graphics to a new website – the scam hasn’t changed much: One browses infected or corrupt websites, gets Zlob and boom: you got a nice popups claiming that your PC is infected with thousands of parasites (most of which never existed in the first place) and windows recomends to download wonderful solution : VirusHeat. Funny, as Microsoft has its own (not too bad) product and would never push such malware, so it targets non-experienced computer users.

VirusHeat is nothing but weak spyware remover, it detects only limited set of real parasites that come together with its fakealerts for convincing the user that it works at all, so one cant rely on it for protection. Its payment system is a scam as well, thus don’t provide credit card details and purchase it! Better to remove using alternate means or reputable spyware remover.

So, how to remove VirusHeat malware if you fallen for this scam ?
